ICYMI: Annual Labour and Employment Conference
The annual Labour and Employment Conference by Signum Advocates brings together various industry stakeholders ranging from Human Resources professionals, Employee’s Unions, Employer’s Organizations and the legal fraternity writ large, to discuss the developments and goings-on in the realm of Employment and Labour in Uganda. This year’s festivities were held on the 23rd and 24th May, 2024 at the Kampala Mestil Hotel. The theme of the summit was, “Managing Performance at the Workplace: Legal and HR Perspectives.”
KATS was represented by Patrick A. Mugalula, a Senior Associate in the Firm’s Employment Department. He tackled “Legal and Financial Exposure from Labour Disputes: Recent Trends from the Industrial Court and Appellate Courts.” Along with the other eminent panelists, he expounded upon the various groundbreaking decisions from the Industrial Court and Court of Appeal, relating to labour disputes in Uganda. He also advised employers on how to manage the risk and exposure they could face from a poorly handled disciplinary and/or termination process.
