Colman is an Associate at the Firm having joined in 2021. He holds a Bachelor of Laws with honours from Makerere University and a Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre, Uganda.
He serves in both the Corporate & Commercial and Litigation and Transaction & Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) departments of the Firm. His expertise includes Commercial litigation and Arbitration, Technology, Media and Telecommunications (TMT), Energy, Oil & Gas, Mining and Tax & Compliance. He also has a keen interest in Competition law and Environmental, Social & Corporate Governance (ESG).
In November 2018, he was joint inaugural winner of the World Bank’s Law Student Proposal Contest and presented his winning proposal at the World Bank’s Law, Justice and Development Conference in Washington, D.C. In January 2020, he won the LEX:LEAD Competition and his award was sponsored by international law firm Allen & Overy.
He has also undertaken specialized training in Business and Human Rights at the University of Zurich. Colman’s work has been published in the ESR Review of the University of the Western Cape, the World Bank’s Africa Blog- Nasikiliza and in the Makerere Law Journal.

- Represented ATC Uganda Limited at the Centre for Arbitration and Dispute Resolution in a USD 3 Million arbitration against a telecom company.
- Successfully represented ATC Uganda Limited in a UGX 7.8 Billion dispute with a telecom company.
- Represented Equity Bank Uganda Limited in the Constitutional Court, in a matter challenging the constitutionality of Regulation 13 of the Mortgage Regulations.
- Represents various individual, local and international clients in arbitration matters at the Centre for Arbitration and Dispute Resolution.
- Advised Airtel Uganda Limited on the listing of 20% of its shares on the main segment of the Uganda Securities Exchange.
- Routinely conducts due diligence on behalf of the Bank of Uganda on applicants for licenses under the National Payment Systems Act.
- Advised Google on the implication of the Digital Services Tax imposed under the Income Tax (Amendment) Act, 2023.
- Is a legal advisor to Technology Products and Services Limited, the local subsidiary of the International Business Machines Corporation (IBM).
- Advised Betpawa on the implications of amendments to various tax laws in 2023 to their business.
- Advised ATC Uganda Limited in a competition complaint filed by Ubuntu Towers Uganda Limited before the Uganda Communication Commission.
- Advising the lenders consortium for the financing of the construction of the East African Crude Oil Pipeline Project in Uganda and Tanzania.
- Advising the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC), one of the largest banks in China – on its USD 220 Million loan financing to a mining company in Uganda.
- Conducted a mining due diligence on behalf of West International Holding Limited, a subsidiary of West China Cement – a leading cement manufacturer and distributor in China, for purposes of its acquisition of a majority stake in a local mining company and establishment of a joint venture for a proposed cement and clinker production project in Moroto district.
- Advising WIH Cement Uganda, a subsidiary of China West Cement on various aspects of its USD 1.2 Billion clinker and cement production plant in Moroto district.
