KATS Founding Partners appointed Senior Counsel
Congratulations are in order for our beloved Senior and Founding Partners, John Katende and Professor Edward Ssempebwa! They were granted the special rank of Senior Counsel by the Uganda Law Society on the 28th March, 2018. This is the highest honour offered in the legal fraternity in Uganda. The coveted award was conferred by the Honourable Chief Justice Bart Mabunda Katureebe at a glitzy gala at the Kampala Serena Hotel.
Mr. Katende and the Professor are in good company; other recipients of the award this year include; former Presidents of the Uganda Law Society, former Attorney Generals (who are automatically eligible for the award) and exceptional legal practitioners who have an unblemished record of practice for over a decade in Uganda.
Some fun facts about Senior Counsel; for court appearances, they don a silk gown, quite distinct from the black robes that other advocates wear. He or she only appears in courts above Grade one Magistrate.
Mr. Katende and Professor Ssempebwa have selflessly served our nation for nearly 50 years in various capacities – res ipsa loquitur. Cheers to our Senior Counsel on this momentous achievement!
