Lawyers, legal scholars, technologists and technology enthusiasts descended on the Kampala Serena Hotel on the 5th March, 2019 for the inaugural Artificial Intelligence (AI), Block chain and the Law Conference. The event was organized by the Africa Legal Tech Network’s Uganda Chapter.
Our Associate Partner, Alice Namuli Blazevic, is a founding member of the Uganda Chapter of the Africa Legal Tech Network.
The objective of the conference was to open up a safe space within which to have a productive discussion on the state of the law and regulation of AI and Block chain in the legal and other sectors.
The Conference was a resounding success, attended by the leading legal practitioners, technologists in Uganda, various regulators and other well-wishers. KATS was well represented by our Senior and Founding Partner, Professor Edward F. Ssempebwa, Sim Katende, Jane Akiteng, Alice Namuli Blazevic, Baati Katende and Patrick Mugalula.
The Conference drew several members of the legal fraternities of Uganda, Kenya, England and the United States of America (USA), entrepreneurs from Uganda, Kenya, Nigeria and the USA, cyber security experts from Kenya and Nigeria, Digital Human Rights defenders, legal and technology scholars as well as International Legal Business Consultants.
A good time was had by all and the conversation about the future of the legal profession and AI was ignited. Same time, next year.
